Give via Zelle

Several major banks in the US support sending money through Zelle. Examples include Bank of America, Capital One, Chase Bank, PNC, and Wells Fargo. You may go to your online banking site to see if this service is available for your institution.

If your bank does not offer a service for sending money via Zelle, you may still be able to do so through Zelle, a digital payments network that allows people to send or receive money to or from anyone with a U.S. bank account. To learn more about this service, visit www.zellepay.com.

To give via Zelle, send your offering to . Specify the following information:

PayPal Giving Fund

If you have a PayPal account, you can make donations to RCCC via PayPal Giving Fund, an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization. PayPal covers all transaction fees, so 100% of your donations will be received by RCCC. No fee will be charged even when you use your credit card linked to your PayPal account. The donation receipt will be issued by PayPal Giving Fund. By the end of the month, PayPal Giving Fund will transfer to RCCC donations made by mid-month.

When you donate, please leave the “Share my name and email with this charity” box checked so that we can record your donation in our TouchPoint database system. If your gift is not a regular tithe or offering, please email to indicate where your gift should go. For example, “Missions Fund” or “Short Term Mission”. You may designate one or more funds.

To give to RCCC via PayPal Giving Fund, please go to Donate with PayPal Giving Fund.

Stocks or Mutual Funds

You can give appreciated securities – stock, mutual funds, bonds, and other “property” – and may receive a greater tax benefit than you would receive as compared to selling the appreciated securities and then donating cash. Donations of appreciated securities are recorded as charitable gifts at the appreciated amount. Also, by giving appreciated securities you can avoid recording a capital gain in the security (assuming the investment has appreciated and that you have held the asset for more than one year). You should check with a tax professional before initiating any transfer of securities to see if it is more advantageous for you to give securities.

To give securities you can initiate the transfer through your broker and request that the securities be transferred “IN KIND” to RCCC’s brokerage account at Vanguard:

  • DTC #: 0062
  • Account #: 43814360
  • Account owner: Rutgers Community Christian Church
    Vanguard Brokerage
    PO Box 1170
    Valley Forge, PA 19482-1170

Please inform the Treasury department of the stock donation by one of the following ways, so that we can understand the purpose(s) of your offering and send you a tax receipt:

Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you are 70½ or older, you are required to take required minimum distributions (RMDs) from your traditional IRA account. You can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) by requesting your IRA custodian to send a distribution to RCCC.

Benefits: The QCD amount can be counted toward satisfying your RMDs and the QCD amount is excluded from your taxable income.

Note: Since the QCD amount is not taxed, you may not then claim the distribution as a charitable tax deduction.

Please consult with your tax advisor to determine whether your donation is tax deductible in whole or in part. Nothing in this communication is intended to constitute legal or tax advice.

Donor Advised Funds

You can make an offering to RCCC via a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), such as Fidelity Charitable Giving. Please note that your tax receipt will be issued by the DAF, not RCCC.

Remember to make known your Offering ID, name, address and purpose(s). Please refer to Offering Boxes.
