God's plan is set in motion
1970s: The seed is planted
A small group involved with the Rutgers Chinese Bible Study gathers almost weekly to pray for a Christian church that would minister to the Chinese people in the Rutgers community. After a year of prayer, and with a sense of clear leading from the Lord, the East Brunswick Adult Fellowship is started in preparation for the formation of the Rutgers Community Chinese Church.
1979: The first RCCC service
In 1979, on the second Sunday of September, the first morning worship service of the new RCCC is held at the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick. Without much experience, without a minister, but filled with an intense desire to serve the Lord, the 20 “charter members” struggle on with a sense of mission set before them.
1986: Turning multi-lingual
Total adult attendance reaches 250. RCCC starts an English worship service, and soon thereafter, a Cantonese service.
One small change with significant implications
Rutgers Community Chinese Church becomes Rutgers Community Christian Church.
Milestone: 30th Anniversary
Three congregations, one church
The Lord has been faithful as we’ve toiled to remain faithful to Him. Our ministry has expanded and RCCC has become Rutgers Community Christian Church. Of course RCCC hasn’t forgotten its roots. The Mandarin- and Cantonese-Chinese congregations are among the largest and most active in New Jersey. All RCCC congregations, though distinct in language and culture, are one church, obeying the Lord and serving Him together.

Today
We have labored over the past four decades to grow to our present size. The grace of the Lord is given to us for present opportunities to serve. The church must continue to endeavor to grow as she faces the challenge of a new era in ministry and waits for the return of her Lord.
