1970s: The seed is planted
A small group involved with the Rutgers Chinese Bible Study gathers almost weekly to pray for a Christian church that would minister to the Chinese people in the Rutgers community. After a year of prayer, and with a sense of clear leading from the Lord, the East Brunswick Adult Fellowship is started in preparation for the formation of the Rutgers Community Chinese Church.
1979: The first RCCC service
1980s: The first building
1986: Turning multi-lingual
Total adult attendance reaches 250. RCCC starts an English worship service, and soon thereafter, a Cantonese service.
1990s: Expanding by faith
1996: An old barn is transformed
The old barn becomes Agape Chapel. The English worship service moves there in order to accommodate growth in all three congregations.
One small change with significant implications
Rutgers Community Chinese Church becomes Rutgers Community Christian Church.
